HEALTHSENS HEMOGLIPOC® is a self-diagnostic device that allows to determine the concentration of hemoglobin present in a drop of blood obtained by a simple prick in the fingertip, facilitating the diagnosis and monitoring of anemia in order to perform an appropriate treatment.
The level of hemoglobin in the blood indicates the possibility of suffering from a disease as common as anemia. Anemia consists of a decrease in the number of red blood cells in the blood, and can be due to many causes, the most common being iron deficiency anemia, the main component of hemoglobin. However, anemia can also be caused by vitamin deficiencies, inflammation, bone marrow diseases, diets lacking vitamins and minerals or family history.
Hemoglobin is a tetrameric hemoprotein that is located in red blood cells, and carries oxygen through the circulatory system to different organs and tissues, as well as carbon dioxide from these organs and tissues to the lungs.
